To the Zoo

Daddy is off today and we decided to pay the Singapore Zoo a visit. We were getting ready n I wanted to brush Little DinoEgg's teeth, he was worried and told me "Mummy we not going school, dun wanna go school." I was puzzled, then realised that ytd night we told him that we are going to the zoo, its a week day n he thought I am bring him to school instead of the zoo. After reasurring him, he allowed me to brush his teeth n change him.

We set off at around ten o'clock in the morning and took a cab down.

We had some toast, eggs and milo for breakfast then join the LONG queue to buy the tickets. Little DinoEgg got impatient while waiting in the queue n demand us to carry him :( I have to bring him away to distract him with the various things around. After waiting for 20mins, we finally got our tickets and off we go~

We walked in towards the tram station and saw otters n maned wolf on our way. We to polar bear exhibite thinking we could see Inuka but was disappointed. All we saw are water, rocks n some photos introducing Inuka etc. We wanted to bring Little DinoEgg to see elephants but seems like they do not have them on exhibits, instead only during shows n elephant rides.

We went to Rainforest Kidzworld to have our lunch @ KFC, planning to eat our fill and then play real hard at the playground. However it started to rain heavily just before we finished our food, spoiling our plans!!!! SO SAD! Little DinoEgg was really looking forward to play in the water. We left Kidzworld when the rain turns smaller intending to head home.

We headed off to amphitheater to catch the show by some monkeys, ducks, eagle, orang utan etc. Then Little DinoEgg said he wanted to see some elephants! However we have either missed the show time or the next show was some time away. We walk by the elephant rides and realised that tickets booth have been closed, next show is at 4.30. Its about 1 n half hours away, but he's been asking about the elephants since we stepped in the zoo, so to satisfy him, we decided to go for the elephant ride.

To kill the time, we walked around looking at the chimpz, orang utan, sun bear etc. I finally get to see the sun bear! Everytime I visited the zoo I had wanted to see them but then they were always out of the way. We saw the lone sun bear going round n round its "home". It would go into a sort of a cave n then come out from far behind (we couldn't see as the stones n shrubs blocked our view), go to the metal door smell abit then walk back to the cave to do the same thing again... Wondering whether its feeding time n sun bear is hungry haha~

Finally its 4pm! We head back to the ticket booth to buy the tickets for the elephant rides n 15mins later daddy got our ticket! We quickly head off to the elephant ride to queue up, Little DinoEgg was very excited, keep asking me where is the elephant. I keep replying him have to wait for the elephant to come. Then we head a dull clung-clung sound n saw an elephant with its keepers coming down the road. Little DinoEgg saw it and keep telling me to "see mummy see, elephant!" We waiting for abt 20mins till our turn, can sense that Little DinoEgg was abit afraid when we were getting up the elephant, this is the first time he is so close to this majestic creature! The bumpy ride was about 5mins but it sure make Little DinoEgg super happy~

We made a slow walk back to the entrance. On our way we visited the white tigers, warthog (I did not know a wild boar can be such an ugly creature!), taphir etc.

Daddy says he wanted to buy something for Little DinoEgg, as something for him to remember about his first visit to the zoo. We walked around the gift store and could not find something useful, it was filled with soft toys of different animals. Well Little DinoEgg was interested in them, picking up 1 after another n kissing a few of them, but we did not want to get soft toys for him as he has a few already. Then I spotted some small cup and told daddy about it. We let Little DinoEgg chose from the range of elephant, tiger, rhino n giffrae. He made a bee lone for the elephant cups n even chose the color himself. He wanted to grab the cup n walk out of the store, we have to pull him back n tell him have to pay for it first. The counter lady put the cup in a small paper bag n he so proudly carries it, dun even allow me to hold it for him. Only managed to get it off his hands when he dozed off in the cab.

The Elephant Cup

It was a fun trip to the zoo even the rain did not dampen our spirits. Surprisingly both me n daddy does not feel tired while walking for few hours. It was only when we sat in the cab that we were attacked by the tiredness :P Next place to go... The Jurong Bird Park!

Trip to daddy's work place

After our enjoyable time at Jacabos Ballas, I decided to pop down to daddy's work place as since he has started his new job he has not been seeing Little DinoEgg very often. And this little fella misses his dad~

Daddy & Son

Stealing some fries from Daddy's lunch

After accompaning daddy for his lunch, we went separate ways. Little DinoEgg did not want daddy to leave him, he though he was going home with us. To distract him, I showed him the coin-operated machines.

Well it did distract him for a while, long enough for daddy to sneak away. However when we leave the car and made our way to the taxi stand, he was asking for daddy =.=

Jacob's Ballas Children Garden

Yupe, after hearing so much about Jacabs Ballas for so long, I decided to bring Little DinoEgg there. It was my 1st time there while its his 2nd time. His school brought the students there in oct'08. I specifically told the taxi uncle the place I wanna go and yet he bring us to Botanic Garden visitor centre instead... After finding out from the Information Counter that the walk to Jacabs Ballas is a good 15mins walk under the hot sun, I decided to talk a cab there.

Even though it was a hot n sunny day, we did managed to enjoy ourselves.

We especially enjoy the suspension bridge. As it was a weekday plus the hot sun, there were only a handful of people in the garden, thus we were able to play with the bridge for almost 20mins, running to & fro the bridge a few times. Many a times I purposely shake/rock the bridge just to let Little DinoEgg feel the sensation of being sway left n right or bounce up n down. He kept screaming me to stop but at the same time he was squealing with excitement n laughing his head off.

We walked through n stopped by Magic of Photosynthesis where you can leave the photsynthesis process. Of course for Little DinoEgg its the thrill of turning the wheels and making water "spray" out of the "plant". We went to the cave where there is a water fall just outside the cave, its such a cooling place in the cave, away from the glaring sun n heat. Then we went to the section where there are some chairs, stool and table all craved out from logs. We proceed to play with some instruments either made from the seeds of some tress/plants or from the leaves or branches. We had a fun time making a din with all those instruments.

We ended our fun by the Waterplay area. There were 4-5 kids at the area playing with the water, Little DinoEgg saw them and wanted to join them but was hesitating. It takes my about 10mins to coax him to go into the water. How did I do it? I made him play at the puddle of water at the area where I know the water will spray at, so when the water came he was wet! Haha~ Evil me ya? But it was a good cause, coz after that he went in to play with the water, making himself all wet from head to toes. He totally enjoy this~~

As I was alone with him, I sort of avoided the Tree House and the playground. These are at too big an area for me to watch over him. Next time, when I feel more confident or if we are going there with friends, I will let him have a taste of these attractions.

My 1st Contest

I entered Little DinoEgg into the Race Prince & Race Princess contest where the 2 days semi finals are held on 27th & 28th Dec'08 at Changi Expo Centre.

27th Dec'08
When we enter the exhibition hall, we were greeted by bright lights n many shiny cars~ Little DinoEgg is very excited to the cars and its the also the 1st time I am so up close and personal with these racing cars! Even before I can take out my camera, Little DinoEgg is already dragging me to the cars n saying "Mummy take pictures!" And I managed to snapped couple of photos of him with 3 cars.

While waiting for the contest to start we went over to the race car section to drive the motorised car n record the time taken to finish the "race course". Well the children were supposed to drive thru the race course marked out with tape on the floor but Little DinoEgg was simply too young to understand the rules haha~ He drove every where thinking that it is like the motorised bike at home where he can just drive aimlessly. Anyway I told the perosn in charge to exclude him from the race since he broke the 1st rule; drive within the course ^^

After the while its time for the contest~~~~ And Little DinoEgg is No 4!! Hmm... not a very lucky number -.-" Today is only doing a cat walk, answer 1 simple question; How old are you?, here is Little DinoEgg~~

Need a lead for the cat walk

Strutting his style

"How old are you?"

*Stares at the MC with a blur look and cough (He was still sick)*

"Wow thats a new answer to that question~"

"Are you happy to be here?" Little DinoEgg replied a BIG YES!

I was afraid that he may have stage fright which is expected since this is the first time he is in such situation. Surprisingly he handled the situation well. Maybe he was feeling abit dazed as its passed his nap time, too stoned to feel any fear etc.

28th Dec'08
Today its photo taking with some cars~~ According to the event coordinator, they will walk around the exhibition area and then poses with some cars, taking some individual photos. However when its time to start the contest, we found out that they have changed the cars to 2 motorized cars, such a disappointment. Anyway, as Little DinoEgg was still coughing n I gave him the medicine earlier, it made him abit drowsy. He went through the photo taking in a dazed mind. And when they announce the results an hour later, Little DinoEgg was not selected to go into the finals.

AH-well~~ its a good experience though, plus we get to see some great n beautiful cars *grinz*

We met up with Adeline & Rebecca at the restaurant, as we were so hungry we decided to order some food first while waiting for them.

Our 1st round of order~~

The dim sum is not bad, worth the money too. All of us ate till so full~

Actually planned to go Isetan private sale with Rebecca but then we were too tired... so decided to go home and nap.

Off to see some pony

Few weeks ago I found out about Gallop Stable @ Pasir Ris, have been wanting to take Little DinoEgg there but no chance. Since its Christmas and we have nothing on, I called them up and confirmed they are open today. So off we go to Gallop Stable in the morning, we reached there around 11pm.

There were only us and another family of 3 there, initially I dunno what to do coz 1st time there n not sure where is where. We saw the horses and Little DinoEgg was so excited~ We walked the whole stretch of the dirt road to see so many horses. Those being kept in the front roll will come up to the fence when we go near them. Then I spotted the counter where they sell the feed for the pony. So for a dollar we get a small packet of cut straw to feed the ponies.

Little DinoEgg was at first scared to go near the pony but with me holding to his hands he slowly extend his arms to let the pony eat the straw from the palm of his hand. However he got abit bored after feeding them 4-5 times... and I am left with half a packet of straws -_-" So I passed them to another boy who is feeding the pony.

We walked around the place, there was the pony ride but Little DinoEgg does not want to go on the ride, think he is scared of the pony. We went to the cafetaria and saw a black cat. According to 1 of the staff, Wobbly used to hang around at the beach area, only "moved in" here couple of months ago. Turns out that he is a well known figure at the beach, when some of the beach goers knew that he is at the Gallop Stable they came visiting regularly. Maybe its the cool weather, maybe its nearing lunch time, Wobbly doesn't wanna play even though we tried to engage some games with him.

Meet Wobbly

And as it was nearing Little DinoEgg's nap time too, we headed for home. I called fora taxi but it took half an hour to reach the place... coz the taxi uncle couldn't find the place... Turns out the operator gave him half the correct address....

Last but not least.... guess what are this pony doing??

I was wondering too... staring at the pony for a while... then I realised... pony is using the ring to scratch its foot... clever ya??

Overall it was fun though u can only stare at the horses n feed pony, plus despite the distance its a place where you can work some energy off ur kiddos. At least for me though hee~ Coz Little DinoEgg knocked out at Granny's place straight till dinner time at 6pm+.
