Foodie Fridays - Kiseki Japanese Buffet Restaurant @ Orchard Central

A last minute CNY lunch date with 2 girlfriends Adeline & Regina who are so nice to come down to my work area to have lunch with me.  We decided to try Kiseki Japanese buffet restaurant in Orchard Central, a restaurant that opened a few months ago but I did not have a chance to try their food yet.

Taken from their website "At just ONE PRICE; Cold Seafood, Sushi, Sashimi, Teppanyaki, Robatayaki (Japanese grill), Yakitori (skewers), Nabemono (hot pot items), Agemono (deep-fried), Mushimono (steamed items), Japanese Western (pasta and pizza) and much much more are UNLIMITED

Have I entice you enough?  No?  Well, take a look at the food on our table and you will be!

All the good stuffs in a bowl!

Sushi Assortment

A surprise is waiting for you when you bite into that pink round sushi, you will be shocked or stung but you will love it.

Sushi Assortment

Yes, this is not a camera trick or your eyes playing tricks on you, this is how fresh, fat, juicy, thick and big slice the salmon sashimi is and I was taking my time to savour each slice!

Sashimi YUM!

We strongly suggest that you eat this while is hot from the oven or wok in this case.  The prawn tempura looks big but after you strip off the coating it is actually a very small prawn, or more like shrimp as one of us commented coz its really really small.

Temp-Temp-Tempura~

I love the fish cake~ flowers instead of the usual plain ones, makes the pot looks cheery.  However the hot pot only looks good, the soup is tasteless unless you consider a mouthful of soy sauce as tasty.

Sliced Pork Hot Pot

The tamago is tasty, DinoBoy will like it a lot! I love it too as it taste different from those I had in the usual Japanese restaurants I go to.

Tamago YUM!

Grilled sliced fish is ok, fish is fresh but the last 2 pieces I ate was super duper salty, causing me to gulped down a cup of water to wash away the taste.

Grilled fish with black pepper?

Regina's creation of 3 balls of gelato; green tea, yuzu and sesame flavour, with chocolate chips on top.

According to Regina, its labelled as "Today's Special" so we have no idea what are we eating except that its mousse and mini cake.

Desserts!

So here are the 2 ladies who come all the way down from the West & East to have a CNY lunch with me, I feel so lurveeee~~~

Our overall experience in Kiseki Japanese Buffet restaurant is average, there are a great variety of food but not exceptional quality.  However, for the price we pay for a restaurant in town it is consider reasonable.  We are not impressed with the paper container they provide, like the one you see in the tempura photo above, we are wondering the purpose of this since they do have proper bowls & plates for the food.  Also, no straws provided for the drinks... ok that's my personal view, means I will have to check the cups carefully to make sure that there are no left over lipsticks marks, stains or whatever before I use it or put it to my mouth.

There are some other food that we did not try, such as the Italian Pasta & Pizza, the chawanmushi (it got snatched up real fast), the sinful chocolate fondue etc.  If I were to go back again, I would probably just stick to the cold seafood, sashimi and the sushi.
