Advent Activities - Spiral Reindeer craft

I found this simple craft online here which I think DinoEgg and I will enjoy doing. You can down load snow man template from the site too. Since I have a lot of paper for me to use, I printed one template, color the back with crayons, put the template on a piece of paper and trace the spiral pattern.

Remove the template and use a pencil to trace over the crayon print.

DinoEgg wants to do a reindeer so we did not trace the snow man hat and arms.

Cut along the pencilled lines.

DinoEgg drew eyes and stuck a red pom pom as the reindeer's nose on the centre of the spiral.  I use some colored felt to make the ears and antlers.

Poke a small hole on the reindeer's head, put a ribbon or in my case I am using my left over golden cords, through the hole, tie the ends together in a knot and its ready to be hang either on the tree or at the window.

We only make one spiral craft today as we were short of time.  We planned to make a candy cane and a Santa Claus when we continue this the next time.

Incidentally, do you know;
1. Why Santa's sleigh is pulled by 9 reindeers (originally 8 reindeers)?
2. We know the famous Rudolph but what about the names of the rest of the team?
3. Do you know the origin of Rudolph the Red Nose reindeer?

You can find the answers for 1. & 2. over here and 3. here.

This activity is part of an Advent Activities series where we aim to share on a daily basis the various activities we are doing as we lead into Christmas!
