Foodie Fridays - A dining experience at Beanstro

We went for our first food invite earlier and are excited to share our dining experience at Beanstro, a casual dining restaurant by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®.

We were at Beanstro Takashimaya, the second outlet (first outlet is in Marina Bay Sands) that is conveniently located at the heart of Orchard Road, great place to sit down with family or friends to rest tired feet after hours of shopping or catch up with friends after work.

We arrived 15mins late due to the traffic condition, we were shown to our table immediately and after we settled down, Steven, the Restaurant Manager came to our table with the menu and make sure that we are comfortable before leaving us to go through the menu.

Their Halal-certified menu comprises a selection of American cuisine and hand-crafted beverages that you will be spoilt for choices for sure, which was what happened to us.  In the end we have to ask Steven to make some recommendations.  20mins later we have decided on our food and waited patiently for them to be served.

And as Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast would have said -
"Ma chere Mademoiselle, it is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that we welcome you tonight. And now we invite you to relax, let us pull up a chair as the dining room proudly presents - your dinner!"

* Tuna Nicoise that is Classically French; yellow-fin tuna loin with sesame and cooked pink with baby potatoes, hard boiled egg, cherry tomatoe, raw onion and haricot vert.

The slices of tuna are fresh and cooked just right; not too raw or over cooked, the dash lime vignette dressings adds a zesty flavour to the salad.

* Prawn Risotto with juicy grilled tiger prawns on a bed of Arborio rice flavoured with Mediterranean spices.

Tiger prawns are fresh and sweet, risotto cooked to perfection though DinoBoy enjoys the prawns instead of the Arborio rice.  Perhaps because this is the first time he is eating this type of rice and is not used to its texture.

* Pan seared Chilean Cod Fish with mashed potatoes and sauteed greens in a seafood broth.

Cod fish is slightly crispy on the outside but soft and tender when you bite into it, even the skin is tasty.  Though the greens are boiled till the right softness it is too salty for my liking, perhaps its because we rarely add salt in our cooking.

* Lamb Shank braised in boeuf au jus on a bed of mashed potatoe and sauteed greens.

When DinoPapa tastes the sauce he finds it too salty but it tastes ok when he eats it with the lamb shank.  Again the greens are a tad too salty.

* Hand-cut Calamari with dill Honey Mustard.

A Must Try!  Calamari are chewy but not too tough, dip it into the honey mustard for added flavour.  And remember to eat it while its hot.

* Mozzarella Fritters with Tomato Salsa.

I forgot that there are cheese inside the fritters and left the dish on the table for too long.  By the time I want to eat it the cheese has cooled down and harden which totally spoil the taste.  They smell nice when Steven served them to us, I'll order this the next time I am there to see if it taste just as nice as it smell.

* Fru Tea® Drinks that are fat free and diary free of Frozen Lemonade, Muncho Mango or Peach.

Refreshing drinks that goes well with our food.  And with the recent humid weather its a Must Have drink to cool yourself down.

We also had soup; mushroom, french onion and seafood velvet and you guessed it, DinoBoy loved his mushroom soup, taking time to drink it sip by sip and licking the plate clean after that.

* Description of the dishes are taken from Beanstro menu.

As you can see, we had a great time at Beanstro.  We love the ambience and the restaurant layout Do drop by if you are around in Orchard Road, I'm sure you will enjoy yourself as much as we do.

We would like to compliment Steven Dason, Restaurant Manager of Beanstro Takashimaya.  Besides knowing the details of the food that is on Beanstro menu thus able to recommend the food for each of us, we were very impressed with his high level of patience shown to us.

DinoBoy was not in his best mood as he was having a sore throat and does not have much appetite, he even do not feel like eating his favourite pasta.  Steven patiently suggested a few dishes, even wanted to change the ingredients just to suit DinoBoy but I turned down his offer as I do not want to impose on him.  He was also paying full attention to DinoBoy when he rattles off his string of questions.  Never once did Steven brushes him off with general answer or smile it off, he even explain to DinoBoy how the cod fish was cooked and the different ways of preparing the cod fish and his prawn risotto.

Thank you Steven for making us feel special during our visit to the restaurant.  We like your attentiveness to our needs and fine details.  You made our dining an extra ordinary experience.
